Students: How to Record Video with Canvas Studio

You can use Studio, a tool in Canvas, to record webcam and/or screen capture video.

Log into your Canvas course.
Click the Studio icon in the far lefthand global navigation menu bar.
In the upper righthand corner, click Create and select Studio Capture.
The webcam window will open. If you are recording with webcam, skip to step 6.

At the bottom of the webcam window, you can enable or disable Screen Capture.
If you enable Screen Capture the window will show the items you can share. Select

Select the item and click Share.
Click Start Recording. A three second countdown will begin.
When you are finished recording, click Finished Recording, you can also pause and continue or cancel and start over.
Your video is saved on your Canvas Studio page.
Click on the video to open it, and click on Captions.
At the No Captions Added prompt, click Request.
At the Captions Request prompt, select English for the language and click Request.
In the ellipse menu located to the right of the Not Published button, select Review and Publish and edit your captions.
After you have edited your captions, scroll to the top of your captions and click the Publish button.
