If you’re unable to view interactive media in Canvas, please try these troubleshooting strategies:
If you are using the Canvas App, switch to a browser on your mobile device
The Canvas interface was optimized for desktop displays. Some features are unsupported on the mobile app. Please go to champlain.instructure.com from your browswer.
Launch the course in a different internet browser
For more information on supported browsers and operating systems, please reference Canvas’s Browser and Computer Requirements.
Disable cookie blockers that directly interact with your browser
Some cookie blockers affect the user’s ability to see interactive media in Canvas. Additional browser plugins and extensions may also conflict with Canvas and affect functionality.
Issues Viewing Interactives on Macs
When a student or teacher is trying to access either assigned content or a common cartridge item from an Ed integrated LMS while using an iPad, they will receive an error message (most commonly “Access Denied”). This issue is a result of an update from Safari (v13.1). The most recent version enables a Privacy and Security feature to prevent cross-site tracking (CST) by default. As a result, apps are blocked from launching.
This issue will happen for iPad when using Chrome and Safari (13 & above) if the browser has the following settings:
- Chrome: “Allow Cross-site tracking” – if this is disabled, there will be an error
- Safari: “Prevent Cross-site tracking” – if this is enabled, there will be an error
